This Domestic Homicide Review (DHR) looks at the death of 'Shawn' who was killed by his partner 'Lisa' in 2017. This case looks at the issue of self neglect and how it is recognised by services. Substance use and mental health issues are considered along with difficult to engage clients.
DHRs were established on a statutory basis under Section 9 of the Domestic Violence, Crime and Victims Act (2004). The purpose of a DHR is to establish what lessons are to be learned from the domestic homicide about how local professionals and organisations work individually and together to safeguard victims.
Learning packs will be made available as part of this briefing and will include a power point presentation, 7 minute briefing and a summary Learning Report, so that each agency can cascade and share the learning prior to the cases being published.
